Laissez-faire Leadership Definition

What is laissez-faire leadership?

Laissez-faire leadership, also known as delegative leadership, is a style of leadership where managers give their team almost complete authority.

While this can be an advantageous approach to leadership in certain settings, for example within environments where autonomy to make decisions is critical for speed, laissez-faire leadership can, without clear objectives, result in disjointed activity or be counter productive for performance.
