Performance enablement is an approach to performance management, whereby employees are provided with ongoing development opportunities and timely feedback as part of their day to day work.
Also referred to as performance development and continuous performance management, performance enablement is a more fluid practice than the more traditional approach to performance management—for example annual appraisals—as it requires leaders to be consistently developing their teams, not only with regular feedback, but also through coaching.
With a Performance Enablement approach, a frequent and often informal development conversation replaces an annual or infrequent formal performance appraisal.
